House Fire On HWY 278 East
Published by Joe Burgess July 1st, 2008 in Fire.Around 3 p.m. Tuesday afternoon, a house fire was reported by the neighbors of 1842 HWY 278 East. The home is believed to belong to the Phillips family.
No details of damage were available at the scene. Monticello’s Fire Dept. responded to the fire, as did the Drew County Sheriff’s Dept. and the Arkansas State Police.

This was right down from my house, the firemen had to pull that big hose a long way I saw how FAST they got that fire out and they stayed out in the heat after the fire I think in case it flamed back up. GREAT JOB If you see them fighting a fire don’t go close, but take them water or a coke to drink they have a hard and dangerous job for little pay. it may be your house they save one day. Mr Moss even made a bust WOW they need a reward for this great job. I was really impressed on how these guys pull together and get the job done FAST.THANK ALL OF YOU FOR DOING A GREAT JOB….
It was right in front of my house.. i live in a trailer behind it and i was by myself. i heard a popping noise and then somone drive up in my driveway. i looked outside and asked them whats going on and they were like her house is on fire… it was very bad but it was out pretty quick! this happened at like 2:30 and they left the house around 5:30
