Around 4 p.m. this afternoon, just as the strong thunderstorm winds were rolling into town, this tree just east of the Workforce Training Center on HWY 278 East was blown down, taking the nearby power lines down as well. 

Monticello Police were on the scene directing traffic around the blocked lane of traffic.
