Governor Hutchinson visited Monticello Friday, May 22 to conclude his month-long Computer Science Tour. Students at Monticello High listened as the governor gave examples of how computer science impacts every arena of life from agriculture, to medical doctors and manufacturing.

“It’s estimated there will be more than one million unfilled jobs in the computer science field by year 2020, Governor Hutchinson said. “These are great paying jobs that bring opportunity to our young people.”

Computer science classes will be offered at every high school across the state, beginning Fall 2015. After the presentation, the governor visited students as they participated in the Hour Of Code—a national programming initiative to teach students computer coding.
