Girl Scouts team up with UAM Cheer Clinic
Published by News Release January 30th, 2007 in News. The Girl Scouts of Ouachita Council and UAM have teamed up to offer girls grades K-12 a mini cheerleading clinic.
The clinic, held at the UAM gym from February 19-24, will give girls instruction from the UAM Cheerleading Squad as well as the opportunity to cheer during the halftime show at the final UAM home basketball game on February 24.
According to Kim Wilson, membership specialist for the Girl Scouts, this is the first year that the all-girl organization has co-sponsored the event. “The mission of the Girl Scouts is to build girls of courage, confidence and character. This can be achieved through various activities including cheerleading because it emphasizes the importance of physical activity, team-work and developing strong presentation skills. The partnership seemed like a natural fit.”
The cost of the clinic is $35 for Girl Scout members and $40 for non Girl Scout members and will include a commemorative t-shirt and patch. For more information or to request a registration form, contact Kim Wilson at 870-550-5599 or fax 870-460-9392.
