These girls from Girls Scout Troop 1170 are shown with items they delivered to the PAWS animal shelter.

This was the final step in their quest for achieving the Bronze and Silver Awards in Girl Scouting. It takes close to 3 years of hard work to earn the Silver Award and 2 to earn the Bronze Award.

Junior Scouts Ariel Green, Emily Smith, Kristen Goad and Jasmine Block earned the Bronze Award by planning and carrying out a try-it day for area Brownies to earn their Animal try-it, making coloring books, painting dog houses and shopping for and collecting items for the Shelter.

Cadette Scout Kailey Barnett earned the Silver Award by building 4 dog houses for the shelter, designing a pamphlet “Be Responsible for Your Pets”, and assisting the other girls in their activities.

The girls received a grant from Wal-Mat to cover their expenses. The girls will receive their awards in a ceremony in May. Picture: front, Jasmine Block. Back l-r Ariel Green,Emily Smith, Kristen Goad, Kailey Barnett
