Gillespie Scholarship Endowed
Published by UAM News April 13th, 2008 in UAM News.Family and friends of Shay Gillespie have completed the endowment of the Shay GIllespie Phi Beta Sigma Leadership Scholarship.
The endowment will generate scholarships to be presented to a full-time undergraduate student or a student in his or her final semester leading to graduation. The recipient must have a grade point average of 2.5 or better, a history of leadership excellence on campus, and must be an active member of Phi Beta Sigma fraternity or Zeta Phi Beta sorority, or an organization directly associated with Phi Beta Sigma.
Recipients will be recommended by the UAM African-American Alumni Association and be selected by the UAM Scholarship Committee.
Gillespie and his wife, Sherrie, are the owners of Head of the Class Child Care & Learning Center of Monticello. The Gillespies were among the founding members of the African-American Alumni Association.
