Friends Plan Annual Public Meeting & Give Gift to Library
Published by Submitted October 20th, 2008 in Library. The Monticello Friends of the Library Executive Board met October 14 to plan their annual public meeting in November. This year the Friends plan to host a brown bag lunch at the Monticello Library on Election Day, November 4. Hot and cold beverages will be provided from 11:30am to 12:30pm in the Conference room at the Library. All Friends members and the community are invited to come with or without a brown bag lunch to hear about what the Friends have been doing this past year and what plans are being made. New board members for the coming year will be introduced.
The Friends Executive Board also voted to give the Monticello Branch Library a $1000 gift to purchase new easy and juvenile fiction books. Nona Dumas, Monticello Branch manager, says that because of rising prices each year the budget buys fewer and fewer new books. “We’ve been able to purchase quite a lot of new juvenile non-fiction recently due to the generous gift from Dr. Edgar Spencer. Now these funds from the Friends will enable us to update our children’s fiction collection.”

I hope everyone will go vote on Nov. 4 and then drop by the library for our annual Friends of the Library meeting. Members and guests are encouraged to bring a bag lunch for our informal gathering. Nona Dumas
