Former Clinton diarist to lecture at UAM
Published by Jeff October 14th, 2006 in News, Schools.From the UAM News Desk - Janis Kearney, author, lecturer and former personal diarist for President Bill Clinton, will give a free public lecture at the University of Arkansas at Monticello Fine Arts Center October 25 at 7 p.m. Kearney is a native of Gould and the author of two books: Cotton Field of Dreams, a memoir of growing up in rural Arkansas, and Conversations: William Jefferson Clinton: From Hope to Harlem, a compilation of over 100 interviews of African-Americans from all walks of life, about Clinton’s race legacy, his leadership and his presidency.
A graduate of the University of Arkansas journalism program, Kearney purchased the Arkansas Press Newspaper from renowned civil rights activist Daisy Bates and published the weekly paper for five years before joining the Clinton campaign team. From 1995 to 2001, Kearney served as Clinton’s personal diarist, chronicling the presidency on a day-to-day basis.
