Monticello’s First Baptist Church began the first step of construction Tuesday, with the preparation of the area that will soon be home to their new expansion to the church.

The old Union Street, which has been closed as a city street, and the church’s old parking lot, are being prepared for the construction of the new building, which will allow the church to maintain their longtime location in Downtown Monticello.
