Fatality Wreck Near Monticello

July 7th, 2009 by

025Just after 8 o’clock, Monday night, a single vehicle accident occurred a few miles northeast of Monticello.

The driver of the vehicle was killed in the crash, and the passenger was critically injured, and has been airlifted by helicopter to Little Rock.

According to Sheriff Mark Gober, the deceased vitcim has been identified as Nakeshia N. Page, age 21, of Tillar.

The car was traveling east on HWY 138, approximately 5 miles east of Monticello, when the driver lost control in a curve.

The Chevy Cobalt then traveled several hundred yards across a field, flipping approximately 6 times, before coming to a stop.

Drew County Sheriff’s deputies worked the wreck, assisted by Monticello Police.  Monticello Fire and Rescue extricated both victims from the crushed vehicle.

SEEMS responded to transport the survivor, and J.A. Goad removed the vehicle
