Billies over Eagles, 42-28 , Final at Crossett

October 13th, 2012 by

The Billies and Eagles battled in a back-and-forth game, Friday night, that wasn’t decided until the final drive turned around and went the wrong way for the Eagles, thanks to a “never say quit” Billies defense.

27 and 5 yard runs gave the Billies a 13-7 lead,at the end of the first quarter, as the Billies traveled to Crossett to take on the Eagles.

The Eagles took the lead 14-13 by halftime, until a pass and 2 point play gave the Billies the lead, 21-14 in the 3rd quarter.

A Crossett quarterback sneak tied the game at 28, to start the final quarter, but that tally only lasted 2 minutes, thanks to a long kick return and extra point, with the Billies now leading 28-21.

Two minutes after that, the Eagles scored on a short run, tying the score at 28.

With 3:00 left in the game, the Billies recovered a fumble in the end zone for a 35-28 lead.

With Crossett in a “1st & goal” situation with :05 to play, the Billies responded with an interception, and “goal line to goal line” return, to win the game with a 42-28 final score.

The Billies will welcome the Warren Lumberjacks to Hyatt Field for the “Saline River Shootout” for a bragging rights, a huge trophy, and an important game, as the connference season winds down.
