DUBOSE NAMED TO ALL-GSC TOURNAMENT TEAM

Junior guard Andrea Dubose has been named to the 2008 All-Gulf South Conference Women’s Basketball Tournament Team after leading the Blossoms to the GSC semi-finals for the first time in school history.

Dubose (Hickory, Miss.) is the only player to make the team that wasn’t a member of either team to make the finals of the tournament.

In the opening round game of the tournament, Dubose led the Blossoms to a 71-66 win over Alabama-Huntsville with 17 points, eight rebounds, five steals, and two assists.

Dubose really found a groove in the quarterfinals with 19 points, 15 coming from beyond the three-point arc, where she hit five of seven shots. Dubose and the Blossoms upset the No. 7 West Georgia Lady Wolves in the game by a convincing margin of 79-54.

In the semi-finals, No. 13 Arkansas Tech quieted Dubose as much as they could, but the transfer from East Central Community College still racked up 10 points and four steals. She only played 27 minutes in the game because of foul trouble in the 72-63 loss.

Joining Dubose on the All-GSC Tournament team are junior forward and senior center Krishna Baker from Arkansas Tech as well as senior forward Brittani Calhoun and senior guard Lakira Boyd from the tournament champions Delta State. Delta State’s senior guard and GSC West Player of the Year was named the tournament’s most outstanding player.
