Drugs, Guns, Money Confiscated by Sheriff

December 3rd, 2020 by

A316A13E-4A95-4217-9E1B-5657F57ABA00On November 19, Sheriff Mark Gober was traveling west on Hwy 278 in Wilmar, when he observed a white male and 2 black males standing near a store.

Sheriff Gober recognized the white male to be John Mann. Sheriff Gober contacted dispatch and was advised John Mann had a parole warrant and a bench warrant for violation of order of protection. Sheriff Gober returned to the area but Mann had left the area and was possibly in a pewter color Chevrolet Tahoe. Sheriff Gober continued toward Monticello and observed the vehicle stopped at the traffic light at Hwy 425 and Hwy 278. Sheriff Gober recognized John Mann as the driver and an unidentified black male passenger.

Sheriff Gober conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle on Shay Gillespie Drive. John Mann, age 54 of Drew County, was placed in custody at that time for outstanding warrants. The black male passenger was identified as Michael Carr, age 47, of Lacey. Carr also had an outstanding warrant from Arkansas Parole and Probation. Detective Rick Harvey, Deputy Chris Austin and Deputy Doug Stark arrived on scene to assist Sheriff Gober.

A search was conducted of the vehicle. Prior to being transported to the jail a small amount of suspected marijuana was found in Carr’s pants pocket along with approximately 28 grams of a white crystal substance believed to be methamphetamine. Members of the Drew County Sheriff’s Department, a Drug Task Force agent and a Parole and Probation Officer conducted a home visit and preceded to search Carr’s home, with Carr present, located on Lacey New Hope Road. During the search a .22 caliber rifle was found in a camper at the residence. Located in the tub faucet access of the mobile home was a black bag containing a .9mm handgun, digital scales, a large bag of suspected methamphetamine and several individual bags of suspected methamphetamine totaling approximately 130 grams.

The total amount of methamphetamine confiscated, from Carr, was approximately 5.5 ounces (158 grams) with a street value of approximately $6000.00. Carr was booked into the Drew County Detention Facility and charged with Possession of controlled substance (methamphetamine) with purpose to deliver (2 counts), Possession of controlled substance (marijuana) with purpose to deliver, Simultaneous Possession Drugs and Firearms, Possession firearm by certain person, Maintaining drug premises and possession drug paraphernalia (3 counts) Carr appeared before Judge Bruce Anderson for a first appearance on Friday November 20, 2020. Carr’s bond was set at $75,000.
