Drugs for Guns Sting Operation Earns 47 Year Sentence from Drew County Jury

An investigation between the 10th Drug Task Force and the Ashley County Sheriffs department that resulted in the arrest of a Crossett man was concluded in Drew County Circuit Court today.
Roderick Montgomery of Crossett was the target of a methamphetamine investigation and was arrested by Task Force, Monticello Police, Drew and Ashley County Deputies after an undercover agent of the task force purchased methamphetamine from Montgomery and dealt in a guns for drugs sting operation.
Montgomery was set for trial today on the Drew County charges but changed his plea to guilty and opted for jury sentencing.
After testimony from the undercover officer and related witnesses, the jury returned with a verdict totaling 47 years on charges ranging from delivery of methamphetamine and possession of firearms by certain persons.
Lt. Jason Akers, Supervisory Agent of the Task Force, thanked the jury for their careful deliberations and the sentence as well as the local law enforcement officers who assisted in the case. Akers also praised Ashley County Sheriff Tommy Sturgeon for reaching out to the Task Force to assist in the case, which covered two separate counties.
