Drug Task Force Arrest Reported after Traffic Stop

Jason Akers of the Tenth Drug Task Force, Task Force Agents arrested a 29year old Monticello man last week after Task Force Agents attempted to initate a traffic stop on a vehicle. Marcus Jacobs was driver of the vehicle. A short pursuit of Jacobs’ vehicle resulted in Jacobs being arrested and approximately an ounce of marijuana being located in Jacobs’ possession.
It was determined that a Jacobs was the paid caregiver of a passenger who was riding in Jacobs’ vehicle at the time of the pursuit and his (Jacobs’) arrest. As the investigation progressed, it was determined that Jacobs had stored marijuana inside the residence of the person whom he was providing care to.
A search of the residence resulted in the confiscation of a substantial quantity of marijuana, approximately (10) ounces, along with a set of digital scales.
Jacobs was subesuently charged with possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver, possession of drug paraphernalia and fleeing. An addition charge of using the property of another to facilitate a criminal offense is also to be added.
Jacobs was taken to Judge Kenneth Harper for a first judicial appearance/ bond hearing and received a bond of 35,000.
