Published by Joe Burgess March 15th, 2008 in Medical / Hospital.Items covered in the Drew Memorial Hospital’s Monthly Board meeting included several items worth taking notice of.
Shannon Clark presented the financial statement for January. She pointed out that steps are being taken towards collecting payments up front from private pay patients. Her rport also said that February shows $15,000 in collections, where previously no more than $5,000 has been collected in a month.
Dr. Michael Fakouri plans to establish a practice in Monticello in August of this year. Dr. Fakouri has applied for a Rural Community Match Grant, that would aid in a portion of his payment.
The open house for Dr. Lisa Holaday and Dr. Sidney Collins at Drew Professional Services was held. The turnout from the community was very good.
Richard Goddard reported that bids were received on maintaining the hospital grounds. Murphy Lawn Care was chosen.
Mr. Goddard also reported that plans are in the works to expand the front parking lot out towards the road. Funding opportunities are being researched. The exansion will double the existing area.
Goddard reported a revitalization of the strategic plan and economic impact are being considered. He noted that the Rural Health Improvement Program was utilized a few years ago and requested the hospital submit an application. If approved, they will develop a current plan. After which, a proposal for improvements and/or expansion would be brought for board approval and if obtained to the Quorum Court for consideration of funding. The other consideration would be to go with the energy performance savings program. That program would lock us into a 15 year program where only the existing facility is fixed. The item was tabled, pending further board discussion.
The meeting adjourned until next month.
