Phillip Hammock was convicted by a Drew County jury of failing to register as a sex-offender, as required by law, and sentenced to serve a term of 21 years in the Department of Correction.

Hammock, age 41, of Wilmar, came to the attention of the Drew County Sheriff’s Dept., on July 8, 2007, when he was arrested for breaking & entering, disorderly conduct, and criminal mischief I, after breaking in the door at his mother’s residence, in Wilmar.

While working that case, Sheriff’s Office Investigator Rick Rausch confirmed through the Arkansas Criminal Information Center’s Sex Registry Office, that Hammock was not registered, as required by law, from earlier charges out of the state of Washington.  Hammock has often failed to register, as required by Act 989 of 1987.  He was last current in the system in 2003.

Hammock still must face the criminal charges for the July break-in, as well as another break-in in Wilmar on January 30 of this year.
