I've never understood people who antagonize--or in this case, threaten--peace officers, especially for trivial offenses. Don't these people realize that they're in a no-win situation?
Police officers carry guns, handcuffs, and other tools designed to keep the peace and, more importantly, have authority to use these tools in whatever manner they see fit to accomplish that goal.
If someone feels that they're being treated unfairly there are avenues that they may pursue to file a grievance, but threatening or assaulting an officer is not one of them. The public decries "police brutality" but put yourselves in their position and you will see that 99.9% of the time a professional peace officer does only what is needed to defuse a situation.
Next time you find yourself in a position where you're dealing with law enforcement, think before you act and you may find the matter is easily resolved.
