County Judge’s Report

Weekly report from Drew County Judge Damon Lampkin. 

It looks as if everyone who needs rain may receive some this week. I just got a new gauge at home.

Last Monday began checking the Ozment Bluff area early. The rest of the day was filled with routine office work and preparations for the Quorum Court meeting.

I did hold a wedding Monday afternoon. Ms Candice Butler became the bride of Mr. Tarrell Christian. Congratulations to the newlyweds!

Monday evening the monthly meeting of the Quorum Court was held.

Tuesday was a day filled with office chores. I did make a trip to the shop.

Wednesday began moving a truck from the Hwy 83/Rabb Road intersection to Selma. Later I attended the Intermodal Facility Authority meeting in Warren. Items of business included the auditor’s report, updates from AHTD and from the engineers relating to the facility, a timber harvest report from Sonny Jones and an update on a prospect for the site.

The rest of the day I was back and forth between the office and the shop.

We had some rain, but my gauge was broken so no report.

Thursday was also spent in the office and with a couple of trips to the shop.

That afternoon I held another wedding. Ms Jessica Huneycutt wedded Mr. Brian Foshee. Best wishes to the newlyweds!!

Later that afternoon Mayor Rogers and I attended the mock emergency exercise at Drew Central.

Friday began by delivering a truck to Lacey and checking roads in the area. The rest of the day was filled with office tasks.

The road department is still busy with final touches on summer road projects

On Monday Longview Road, Jones Loop, Gee’s Landing Road, James Glennon Road, Ozment Bluff Access Road, Old Warren Road, Wilmar Loop, Sanderlin Road and O. Z. Simpson Road were graded.

Traffic was flagged and 5 pipes were installed on Green Hill Road. Work was done around the shop.

Tuesday saw Dickson Road, Stafford Road, Sulllivan Road, Boston Road, N. Garnett Road, Pleasant Springs Road, Green Mount Lane, Noel Lane, Hayden Loop and Rabb Road bladed.

Bridge signs were installed on Piney Creek Road and Bordeaux Road.

A culvert was taken to Vincent Lane. Work was done at the shop.

On Wednesday Tara Lane, Old Florence Road, Ganderville Road, Ken Lane, Shultz Lane, Mt. Tabor Road, N. 16th Section Road and Brixie Road were graded.

Patching was done on Valley Junction Road. Dirt was hauled. Work was done around the shop.

On Thursday Piney Creek Road was graded. Trees were removed from Michigan St. (Ladelle), Grace Community Road and Selma Collins Road.

9-1-1 signs were replaced around the county.

McManus Road received some patch work. Work was done around the shop.
