Due to repeated crashes with the ballot computing software, Drew County Clerk Lyna Gulledge has announced the REVISED, UNOFFICIAL totals for Tuesday night’s Drew County Election Results.

It appears that all candidates leading in there respective races are still in the lead (except for the Marion Township race), just with different totals.

It seems that the computer gliches affected only the calculations at the courthouse, and had no effect in the polling places.

It seems that the precinct totals “posted on the board” at the courthouse were correct, and just needed to recalculated for a total.

Here are the REVISED, UNOFFICIAL results.

Circuit Judge

Kenny Johnson—–1051

Sara Hartness——-1037

Andrew Best———–100

(The Circuit Judges race is not based only on Drew County totals, but also include ballots case in Ashley, Bradley, Chicot, and Desha Counties.)

J.P. District 6

Kenneth Trotter–152

Dale Avery———-68

J.P. District 8

 Jimmy Potter——-185

Randy King————68

J.P. District 9

Rene Knowles———-115

Barbara McLemore—–97

Marion Township Constable

Joe Burgess————626

Raymond Chisom—–609

Monticello Alderman Ward 2 Position 1

Andrea Jo Chambers—–74

Carolyn Brown———–308

Monticello Alderman Ward 2 Position 2

Gary Pruitt—————–120

Claudia Hartness———259

Monticello Alderman Ward 3 Position 1

Raymond Hubbard———106

Stephanie Hill—————-97

Monticello Alderman Ward 4 Position 2

Tim Chase——————–220

Charles Davis—————–48

—————————————————————–

A brief snap-shot summary of the nights events show the four incumbent city council members keep their alderman positions.

The two incumbant Quorum Court members retained their responsibilites, and will be joined by Rene Knowles, who won the contest for the seat of Danny Lloyd, who did not seek re-election.

The only change is for the position of Marion Township Constable, where Raymond Chisom appears to have been slightly outdistanced by Joe Burgess.

But once again remember that these are still unofficial results until they have been certified by the Election Commission.

Since the software repeatedly crashed, did they finally do a manual count instead of relying on the computer? Just curious since the first preliminary results posted earlier Tuesday night actually had vote totals greater than those posted here, and I’m assuming that was still reflective of Drew County only. Some of those races were awfully close…

I appreciate the willingness of these churches to serve the community by making their facilities available to serve as polling places.

    Thanks for the coverage!

I spoke with County Clerk, Lyna Gulledge this morning. There were no problems with the precint voting machines. The incorrect totals came from the unit that reads the “precinct computer cards” and calculates the totals.

Mrs. Gulledge stayed at the courthouse until almost midnight Tuesday night, to “re-calculate” the precinct totals from each race, and get a correct “county wide” total.

When that was completed, she e-mailed the local media sources with the updated totals, and confirmed by phone that the were being sent, so that everything could be updated before midnight.

As a “news website”, I can say she did everything that she could do to make this as smooth as possible.

As a candidate, I want to thank her for not waiting until the next day, like a lot of people that had been at work for 20 hours probably would have done.

Hats off to Mrs. Gulledge for her above and beyond commitment to sticking around until the count was accurate. Oh that every one of our government officials - elected or otherwise - local, state and federal - would be as diligent and committed to their jobs as she is.

And thanks to ML for giving the frequent updates AND corrections as they were made available.
