The Drew Central school board unanimously voted to hire Billy Williams as their new school superintendent, effective July 1.
Williams is currently Woodlawn’s superintendent, and a former MHS principal.

What a great choice. I am so happy to hear of this decision.
Drew Central Board of Education could not have made a better choice in Billy Williams. Billy Williams is the most competitive and man of Integrity that I have known in the Athletic and Educational Professional Realm. In 1965 at the Dawn of the Integration era(Freedom of Choice)Billy Williams and I meet on the Basketball Court as 9th Graders(I-Monticello and He-Hermitage)We were staunch rivalry’s and battlers as athletes but never enemies or haters for as stated Integrity and Honor are Human Traits of this outstanding Christian Gentlemen. We graduated the same year 1969 with wall of District, State Honors in Basketball and both were Athletic Scholarships to then Arkansas A&M and there Williams maintained his integrity and honor and we both Marched in Graduation together. Williams went on to Graduate School and so did I. Forty Eight Years this year and now he is the proud, honorable and efficient Superintendent of the Great and Historic Drew Central School District. What an honor for Drew County to have such honor and integrity at both of it’s Public Schools in Billy Williams(Drew Central), Honorable Bobby Harper(Monticello) and Dr. Jack Lassiter(University of Arkansas-Monticello) and to cap it off the Honorable Cliff Gibson(Board of Trustees-University of Arkansas), The future for Education in all it’s arenas in Drew County, Arkansas just Blossomed with overflowing fruit, again Congratulations to Billy Williams as the new Superintendent Drew Central Public Schools.

I do believe that Drew Central has made a great choice. I have two grandchildren that graduated from Woodlawn while Mr. Williams was Superintendent there and he is a good man.
Mr. Billy is a wonderful Superintendent. Woodlawn has really blossomed while under Mr. Williams. It is sad to see him go but I am glad that he has this oppurtunity closer to home. This change will do nothing but benefit Drew Central. Congratulations to Mr. Williams and Drew Central!
