After several years of planning, raising funds, and looking at mascot uniforms, the Drew Central Pirates finally have a mascot.

Through the efforts of several students, faculty and parents the mascot uniform made its debut at the first home game last week.

Senior Caleb Grissom had the honor of being the first student to wear the uniform. Grissom was one of the students involved in raising funds and awareness for the need of a mascot.

"It was really fun but I was hot and tired afterwards," Grissom said.

EAST facilitator Barbie Eubanks indicated that the cost of the uniform was around $1,000.

Tryouts for the mascot position will be announced at a later date.
