Nola Gober and Kristi Meeks, third grade teachers at Drew Central Elementary,  attended the ARA Literacy conference in November. They were able to meet several children’s authors including Steven L. Layne, author of The Principal’s Night Before Christmas. The teachers purchased a copy of that book and had it autographed for their principal, Mr. Mike Johnston. In turn, Mr. Johnston went to all of the third grade classrooms to read the book before the Christmas holiday. The students loved the book and they especially loved hearing their principal read it to them.
