Warren Haynie, who is a member of the Monticello/Warren based unit, that will soon be leaving Camp Shelby, Mississippi, and be deployed to Iraq.
Drew Central was represented at the ceremony by Superintendent Mike Reeves, Principals Frank Ferguson and Mike Johnston, and Brooke’s teacher, Ms. Barbaree, among other staff members.
Haynie is the father of Brooke Rekow, a student of Ms. Jennifer Barbaree’s 5th grade class at Drew Central Elementary.
There are 57 local troops stationed at Camp Shelby, Mississippi for their final training before departing for Iraq. Drew Central School District, in conjunction with the local VFW chapter, will provide bus transportation to these local troops on March 13 for their final departure. Mr. Jerry Badin and Mr. Jim Lee, representing the local VFW chapter will make transportation arrangements with the district for this trip. The troops will return to Camp Shelby March 17 and be deployed to Iraq shortly thereafter.
