In 2003 the Drew Central School Board authorized creation of two prestigeous  awards, the Drew Central Hall of Fame and the Drew Central Distinguished  Service awards.

These awards are given to recipients at the All Class  Reunion held the first Saturday in May each year, as they were last Saturday.

To be inducted into the Hall of Fame a person must have graduated from Drew  Central High School or be eligible for a diploma under Arkansas state law.  He of she must be a person of high integrity who has given to society,  attained high achievements recognized by the greater community, who is a  person of high integrity, and who is an excellent role model for children.

This year the inductees (photos are not in order) into the Drew Central Hall of Fame were:

Dr. Jesse Coker, long time professor at UAM and author

Nolan Pennington, retired United States Air Force officer who flew in the  SR-71 Blackbird intelligence gathering aircraft

Mr. Homer Pace, retired mail carrier and member of the Drew County Fair Board for many years.

The category of Distinguished Service is awarded to people who have given a  great deal of their lives for the betterment of the school district, who are  excellent role models for children and who possess a high degree of  integrity. Winners of this year’s Distinguished Service Award were:

Ms. Claudie Bell Gladden, teacher of 34 years in the Drew Central School District.

Reverand R.V. White, long time minister and former school board member of  the Drew Central School District.

A posthumous award was given to Ms. Minnie Webb, a teacher for 42 years  total who taught for 30 of those years in the Drew Central School District.  The award was accepted in her honor by her family.

Ms. Katelyn McManus, senior at Drew  Central High School, accepting congratulations from superintendent Mike  Reeves for being named the recipient of the 2008 Earl Willis Scholarship.
