Dr. Robert Weih Earns Designation As Certified Geographic Information Systems Professional

Dr. Robert Weih, professor of forestry and director of the spatial information systems program at the University of Arkansas at Monticello, has received certification as a Geographic Information Systems Professional (GISP).
The certification was presented by the GIS Certification Institute, which sets minimum standards for ethical conduct and professional practice. According to Weih, some states require persons with the GISP for projects that receive state funds, or in the case of Arkansas, some state GIS contracts require at least one GISP on the project.Weih joined the UAM faculty in 1994. He holds a bachelor’s degree from Northern Arizona University, and master’s degree from the University of Minnesota, and a Ph.D. from Virginia Tech.
