Friday afternoon, October 23, at 12:35, 2 individuals lost their lives in a head-on collision, on HWY 425, north of Monticello.

The accident occurred when a southbound 2005 Buick Rendezvous, driven by Javvarious Holeman, age 29, of Bastrop, crossed the centerline and struck a northbound 2020 Chevy Silverado, driven by 47-year-old Zackery Graham, of Star City.

A 40 -year-old male was a passenger in the Buick, but survived the crash.

Graham was pronounced dead at the scene. Holemam  was pronounced, after arriving at Drew Memorial Hospital.

Monticello Fire and Rescue responded to the crash, which was investigated by the Drew County Sheriffs Department.
