Double Arrest in Wilmar, Last Friday

Drew County Sheriff Mark Gober, while on a call in Wilmar, made the arrest of 2 felons, Friday.

In June of last year, there was an arrest warrant issued for Brandon Deon Banks, of Wilmar, for allegedly shooting at a couple Wilmar residents.

Banks left the area, and had not been able to be located to face the charges.

As Sheriff Gober was answering a call in Wilmar, Friday, he noticed a vehicle that matched the description of Banks’ vehicle.  The Sheriff recognized Banks as the driver of the vehicle, and got behind it to make a stop.

Banks’ vehicle turned in at a nearby residence, where he was taken into custody.

An unidentified male was riding with Banks at the time, but refused to properly identify himself.

The passenger was also transported to Monticello, where he was discovered to be Eric Flenory, who was wanted by the Arkansas Dept. of Correction for a parole warrant, since he had not reported to his parole officer.

Flenory is being held at the County Detention Facility, waiting to be picked up by the state system.

Banks appeared before Circuit Judge Bynum Gibson Monday afternoon, where Gary Potts was assigned as his public defender.

Banks said he lived in Pine Bluff, but records show his address still to be in Wilmar.

Judge Gibson asked Sheriff Gober if he felt having Banks released would be a problem, to which Sheriff Gober replied, “Yes, if he’s in Wilmar.”

One of the people Banks reportedly shot at is currently in the prison system, but the subject’s wife claims that she was threatened soon after the incident.

Banks’ bond was reduced from $100,000, to $10,000, while he remains in custody awaiting trial.
