Double Arrest–Drugs Found–Following Traffic Stop
Published by Submitted October 7th, 2008 in Police /Legal.A Kansas couple was arrested Thursday after a traffic stop by DTF Agents.
According to Akers, a Special Agent with the Task Force and a Monticello Officer executed the traffic stop on Highway 278 West for traffic violations.
The driver of the vehicle, Joshua Warner, age 23, was arrested after providing agents and officers with a ficticious name. Agents later learned that Warner was driving on suspended license.
The passenger of the vehicle, identified as Rachelle Sprague, age 35, was subsequently arrested, as well, when officers deemed she was under the influence, and could not be permitted to operate the vehicle. A small child in the vehicle was released to family members.
Shortly after the suspects were arrested, the vehicle was searched, and a prescription narcotic was located inside the vehicle. The search continued with agents and the officer locating several suspected methamphetamine smoking devices in the vehicle. Numerous syringes were also found inside the vehicle, which Akers points out is a danger associated with narcotics work.
After transporting both suspects to the Drew County Jail, Sprague was found to be in possession of two small bags that contain what is believed to be methamphetamine.
Both suspects are currently under the supervision of Kansas Probation/Parole.
Bond was set by Disrict Judge Kenneth Harper on Friday at $35,000 each.
