DMH Wins $900,000 Appeal in Medicare Med Records Program Audit

Posted below is the most important segment of the final successful determination of Drew Memorial Hospital’s recent appeal to Medicare and Medicaid Services.

Drew Memorial Hospital, Inc.
This is the final determination notice regarding your recent appeal to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). We have completed our review of your Medicare Electronic Health Record (EHR) Incentive Program appeal.
Based on our review of your Appeal Filing Request, supporting documentation and the Program policies, we have accepted the documentation you provided to support your appeal. Therefore, CMS upholds your aecppeal.”
If the appeal had been denied, our local hospital would have been required to repay $900,000 in funding back to the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act program.
When DMH took part in the 2009 medical records program, the details were still being decided, as the program was being implemented around the country.
When an audit was performed, DMH had met 18 of the required 19 areas, pertaining to the meaningful use portion of the electronic health-record system and its security.
