Desha/Drew Cattlemen September 2012 Meeting Minutes

The Desha/Drew Cattlemen’s Association met September 20, 2012, at the UAM Agriculture Building. President Jason Cater opened the meeting and Glynn Gibson asked the blessing. The members and guests enjoyed a delicious supper of BBQ sandwiches with all the trimmings, provided by State Farm Insurance. The members brought desserts.

Dr. Cater introduced Mr. David Funderburg and Mr. Chris Bryant of State Farm Insurance in Monticello. Mr. Bryant invited us to visit with them at State Farm for all our insurance needs, including agricultural policies.

After some discussion about our fair float and booth, Dr. Cater spoke about different parasites that affect cattle and compared the types and costs of treatment to rid the cattle of the profit reducing suckers.

Our next meeting will be October 18, 2012 at 7 o’clock. Hope to see you there!
