Desha/Drew Cattlemen June Meeting Notes

The Desha/Drew Cattlemen’s Association met June 21, 2012, at the UAM Agriculture Building. President Jason Cater opened the meeting with the blessing of the food. The members and guests enjoyed roast beef sandwiches and potato salad provided by Drew Farm Supply, as well as, great desserts prepared by the ladies.

Dr. Cater introduced Lewis Orrell, manager of Drew Farm Supply. Orrell gave an overview of where he wants Drew Farm Supply to be headed in the future and encouraged the producers to plan ahead and let him know what their needs are, so that he can purchase the supplies in quantity and pass the savings on to the customer.

Our next speakers were Keith Garland and Mark Brown from Grasshopper Fertilizer. They explained the use of their liquid fertilizer products as a foliar feed for the plants.

Nita Carpenter announced that we had exceeded our 90/20 goal and should receive our share of the $9500 to be awarded at the ACA Convention in Fort Smith in August.

Glynn Gibson reported from meetings in Little Rock.
