Garland Stephens, age 28, of the Halley community, was arrested Wednesday night by Desha County Deputy Ronnie Beardon, after Bearden was informed by Drew County Sheriff’s Dept. Detective Rick Rausch about the theft of 8 tractor batteries from a Drew County farm, near Bayou Bartholomew.

According to Rausch, when Stephens saw the deputy approaching, he tried to cover the stolen batteries, that he had just been working to remove the terminal cables from.
