Hovel - Poorly built house
The village was devastated after the hurricane and consisted of one hovel for a family of ten.There will be no afterschool tutoring Tuesday due to a faculty meeting.

Congratulations to Devin Horn for winning first place in the variety group at the district talent competition on Saturday night. Devin will be competing at the state level on October 16 at the state fair !!

Attention 10th Grade Students - Friday, Oct. 10th
The entire 10th grade class will meet in Mrs. Birch’s room during CAP Friday morning to finalize class t-shirt orders and class dues.
FCCLA MONEY - Friday, Oct. 10th
All fund raising money for FCCLA is due on Friday October 10th to Mrs. Carter or Mrs. Vance.
PIRATE FOOTBALL - Thursday & Friday
Seventh Grade & Jr. High will play Thursday at home against Parker’s Chapel starting at 5:30. Our Sr. High will play at Parker’s Chapel, kickoff will be at 7:30. Be sure to come out and support the Pirates. GO PIRATES !!!! .
BOOK CLUB MEETING - Friday, Oct. 10th
Students who are fans of author Stephanie Meyer and her Twilight series are invited to attend a book club meeting to discuss the first book. Literacy teachers Terri Smith and Karon Parrish are hosting a book club for readers who have read the book Twilight on Friday, October 10 in Parrish’s classroom during lunch. Interested students are encouraged to sign-up for the event through Smith or Parrish and bring $2 for pizza. For more information contact Smith or Parrish.

COUNSELOR’S CORNER
• You may purchase a parking permit in the Counselor’s office for $5.00. You must have proof of insurance and driver’s license.
• ACT packets have arrived. You may pick up one in the counselor’s office.
• You may apply for a $1,000 scholarship from the Arkansas Student Loan Authority, just go to the website www.asla.info/collegeplanning/woodruffscholarship.htm. You can enter for the $1,000 drawing and also apply for the R. Preston Woodruff Jr. Scholarship.
• Applications are in the Counselor’s Office for the Kiwanis Club Scholarship. - Deadline is Nov 30th .
