Dart League hits the mark

Since late January, Dad’s Place Coffee Shop has seen a flurry of flying objects on Monday nights and Saturdays. It was then that Monticello’s Dart Leagues began and have been gaining popularity. More than 30 people show up on Monday evenings for the double’s dart league, and on Saturdays, the singles league is busy throwing for bulls as well.
James Martin runs the leagues with Dad’s Place owner Jim Whaley. Martin said, “We started the leagues to have something to do on Monday nights and to meet new people.”
“Initially, I told Ronny [her husband] about it so he and a friend could do it and have a guy thing to do. He said, ‘Yea, sign us up!’ So now we’re playing together, and it’s awesome. We love it,” Brandi Williams said.
Will Thomasson said he plays in the doubles league to “meet different people, have fun and fellowship and to experience the agony of defeat.”
Darts started in England sometime in the 19th century in pubs and continues to grow in popularity today due to the fact that anyone can play.

Check out the excellent form of that chick throwing darts. Everyone take notes…HA HA HA! You should have taken a pic of Jim or something because if you’ll notice, my finger is pointing toward the board but I’ll bet that the dart ended up far from the intended target!!!! Great story!
