Street Marking Continues Around the Square

2005

A thermalplastic application crew from Little Rock was in Monticello, Friday, adding to the street marking around the square.

They plan to be back on Monday to continue adding to square area.  The thermal plastic process melts a plastic compound, which bonds with the pavement, and then has tiny reflective glass-like “sparkles” applied to the top of the melted plastic, before it cools.

The areas to be marked are outlined, and then colored. Members of this crew also worked on the HWY 425 /35 West intersection.

Many people do not realize that since the square is actually a part of the state highway system, the state provide maintainence, and the city is not allowed to.

I’m so happy that the City finally gave us proper crosswalks on the square. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve almost got run over there!

Are they going to be repainting every thing around the square that was covered up with the new asphault, because there are a lot of people from out of town & from Monticello that don’t know how to drive around the square mainly the East / West traffic with the turn lain.

out of town people? im so glad u said ‘& from Monticello’ cuz it’s mostly people with Billie & Pirate stickers all over their cars. Is it that they don’t know or just don’t care? I was almost killed, by the way, by someone in a blue car at the intersection in Pine Bluff. What was waving out the window? A blooming Billie flag. They were in such a hurry to get where? Wal-Mart. If that’s not an example of so many Monticello drivers, I don’t know what is. What irked me besides ALMOST KILLING MY CHILD was the fact that a kid was killed in front of the Monticello Wal-Mart and a young lady was on life support from an accident a week before they were driving like idiots in front of the Pine Bluff Wal-Mart.

I guess the flag got in the way of the GIGANTIC RED LIGHT that was flashing.
