Saturday, county officials became of aware of 2 new positive tests for Covid at the Drew County Courthouse.

A week ago, MLive reported that there were two cases confirmed over that weekend, that the courthouse would be open, but residents were encouraged to wear a mask, when entering the building, or consider contacting the office you need to do business with by phone, email, or using the dropbox in front of the Courthouse.

At this point, the earlier two employees have reportedly been cleared and are back to work. However, two additional employees on the “county office floor“ have tested positive and are currently quarantined.

At end of business, Friday, there were two confirmed cases of positive COVID-19 in the County Courthouse. The courthouse remained open, but notified county residents of the situation and encouraged the use of phone, email, and the outside dropbox to avoid contact.

MLive just spoke with Judge Robert Akin, who reported there had been testing, on nearbuds coworkers, but no positive tests, since Friday.

Judge Akin also has posted signs on the courthouse doors, recommending masks, especially for residents who have not had their vaccinations.

He also in strongly encouraged county residents get the Covid vaccination, which are readily available at local medical clinics, the hospital, as well as The Prescription Pad Pharmacy, City Drug, Walgreens and Walmart.

Jury duty for today is still scheduled in the circuit court.

According to multiple sources, there were 2 confirmed cases of COVID in the Drew County Courthouse, Friday.

While no offices are being specifically named, all sources indicate that it is on the “county office floor” of the building.

At this point, all offices are staffed and open to the public, indicating that employees with confirmed cases are not present.

No information is available as to whether the cases are the original Covid-19 or the recently increasing Delta Variant.  (The Delta Variant is named for “‘D’ as in ‘Delta,’” and has no relation  to the Mississippi River Delta region.
