County Judge’s Report - October 22, 2008

Tuesday began at the courthouse and shop. Later I visited with FEMA officials again about road damage from Gustav and Ike. After lunch I checked some roads in the Wilmar area.
The rest of the day was busy with courthouse chores.
Tuesday evening we attended the East Lab presentations at Drew Central. The students are doing a great job and providing useful information and skills to many Drew County businesses and entities.
Wednesday began as usual. Returning to the courthouse, I mat with a few visitors.
Later that morning I attended the monthly Intermodal Authority meeting at the Commercial Bank community room.
After lunch I met with Bradley County Judge Keith Neely to discuss common concerns.
Later I met with the mayor.
The rest of the day was busy with office chores and preparing the packet for the Quorum Court meeting Monday night.
Thursday also began at the courthouse and shop. I checked some very wet roads courtesy of Wednesday night’s rain and Thursday’s continuing rain.
Most of the rest of the day I was busy with office work.
I did have two weddings Thursday afternoon. First, Ms Kimberly England became the bride of Mr. Josh Baker.
Later Ms Maxie Lee Marter wedded Mr. Marcus Arrington.

Thursday evening I, along with County Clerk Lyna Gulledge, Sheriff Mark Gober, Prosecutor Thomas Deen and others attended the Saline Township community meeting held at the Green Hill Community Baptist Church to discuss the wet/dry issue on the November ballot.
Friday morning began at the office and shop.
Then I had another wedding at the courthouse. Ms Amany Chacon Castillo became the bride of Lesly Jean Francois. Congratulations to the newlyweds!!
Later Friday I left to attend my 45th Class Reunion in Little Rock.
Last Tuesday grader operators bladed Loggy Bayou Road, Old Hwy 65, Young Lane, Ganderville Road, Shultz Lane and Ken Lane.
Gravel was hauled and spread on Florence Road and Rabb Road.
A pipe was taken to State School Road.
Wednesday saw Loafer’s Lane, Darnell Lane, Piney Creek Road, West Avery Road, Faith Lane, Faye Lane, Scott Lane, Circle B Farm Road and James Brown Road graded.
Grader blades were changed.
Gravel was hauled and spread on Florence Road.
An 18X30 foot pipe was installed on Bain Lane.
On Thursday several roads and culverts were checked after the rains.
Blue rock was hauled and spread on Collins Line Road.
Friday Florence Road, Brixie Road, Mount Tabor Road, Shultz Lane, Rabb Road, S. Allis Road and Old Warren Road were graded.
Some ditches and culverts were checked.
SB2 was hauled and spread on Collins Line Road.
Maintenance work was done at the shop.
