The first full workweek in 2008 was a busy one.  Monday began at the courthouse checking the heat.  Then I went to the shop before traveling to Goose Hollow Road to check some pipes.  I hurriedly returned to the office for routine office work and returning calls before leaving for an ADEM meeting in Star City.
ADEM (Arkansas Department of Emergency Management) held a workshop there on disaster steps for emergency situations, such as floods, tornadoes, earthquakes, etc.
When I returned to Monticello, routine office work and calls completed the day.
Tuesday began at the office and then the shop as usual.  Then I delivered a truck to Prairie Grove Road for a grader operator.  I also took one from Selma to Hwy 133.
Then I checked a pipe at the north end of Garnett Road before returning to the office for regular work there.
After lunch Mayor Rogers and I met with the solid waste company about a matter.  The mayor and I left that meeting to go see the National Guard troops off to their training in Mississippi before going to Iraq.  A good crowd attended for a work day.
     Office work finished the day.
Wednesday began at the courthouse and then to the shop before going to check on Sullivan and Boston roads in northwestern Drew County.  Then I checked pipes on East Mount Zion Road and West Lacey Road before returning to the office.
At noon I attended the monthly MEDC meeting.
After lunch I was back on the roads checking pipes in the Florence Road area. The rest of the afternoon was filed with office chores and returning calls.
Thursday began at the courthouse checking the heat.  Then I went to check 4 Mile Creek Road and South 16th Section Road before returning to town to check a plumbing problem at the library.
The rest of the morning was filled with routine office work and calls at the courthouse.
Thursday afternoon was very busy at the office.
I did make time for a wedding!!  Ms Crystal Hall be came the bride of Mr. Franklin Junior.  Best wishes to the happy couple.
Friday began as usual at the courthouse and then the shop.  I delivered a truck to Selma and then returned to the office for the rest of the morning.
At noon I attended a called MEDC meeting.  The afternoon was filled with routine office tasks.
Saturday we were up bright and early for the Martin Luther King birthday celebration.  A march began at the Square and ended at Holmes Chapel Presbyterian Church. A great country breakfast was served there and everyone went home full.  Congratulations to James Bealer and Peggy Orr, co-organizers for another well-organized event! The guest speaker, Mrs. Tammy Vaughn, was very inspirational too.
After weekend rains, last Monday grader operators checked roads and culverts on their routes.
Rock was hauled to Panther Break Road where a large pipe had washed out on one end.  SB2 was also hauled.
Goose Hollow Road and Bowden Loop were bushhogged.
