Last Monday began at the courthouse checking the boiler early. Then I helped move a truck from Barkada/Hwy 133 to Ladelle for the grader operator. While out, I checked roads in that area. The rest of the morning was filled with routine office tasks.
Monday afternoon I checked Selma-Collins Road before finishing the day with office work.
Tuesday, after checking the boiler at the courthouse, I checked roads in the Jerome/Panther Break Road area of southeastern Drew County. Returning to the courthouse I had a final meeting with the auditor for 2006.
The rest of the day was filled with office work, visitors and calls.
Wednesday began by checking roads in the area around Sid Caperton Road in southern Drew County. The rest of the day was spent in the office with routine work and calls.
I did hold a wedding Wednesday afternoon. Ms. Lynn Marter became the bride of Mr. George Marshall. Congratulations to the newlyweds!
Wednesday night I returned to the courthouse to check the boiler.
Thursday began at the office before going to the shop. Most of the rest of the day was taken up by a historic preservation meeting in Hot Springs.
I returned to the office in time to check the mail and return a few calls.
Friday began at the courthouse early before going to check Circle B Road, Valley Junction Road and Goose Hollow Road. Most of the rest of the day was filled with office tasks, visitors and calls.
I also held another wedding Friday afternoon. Ms. Tiffany Scott wedded Mr. Willie Mingo. Best wishes to the happy couple!
Saturday I drove to a tree farm near Altheimer to pick up several Leyland cypress trees for the county as well as the city. They should make beautiful additions to the landscape in the area near the Detention Facility.
Between rain and cooler weather not conducive to road building, the guys at the shop are busy with various equipment maintenance chores.
Additionally, last Monday South Allis Road, Old Warren Road, Etheridge Road, Lambert Road, Jones Loop, Ben Loveless Road, Van Cruce Road, ½ of Sid Caperton Road and Walnut Street in Wilmar were graded.
Wash rock was hauled and spread on Valley Junction Road and McManus Road.
Jose Chapel Road, Ables Creek Road, Loggy Bayou Road, Florence Road, Barkada Road and Drew County 133 were patched.
The lights on one garbage truck were repaired.
On Tuesday Prairie Chapel Road, Longview Road, Gee’s Landing Road, James Glennon Road, Carl O’Neal Road, Horn Loop and Deal Road were bladed.
Wash rock was hauled and spread on Goose Hollow Road and McManus Road.
Cracks were filled on S. Bowser Road.
Wednesday found grader operators checking roads on their routes after the showers. Maintenance work and cleanup continued at the shop.
Special projects on Thursday included checking roads on grader routes.
Valley Junction Road, Midway Route and Goose Hollow Road were patched.
Friday was a busy day with special assignments, including grading Collins Line Road.
Enon Deane Road was also patched
Several of the road department are taking vacation days too, now that we have stopped chip and seal for the winter.
Please remember that this Thursday, December 20, the trash pickup crews will run Thursday and Fridays routes. There will be no pickup Friday through Tuesday, Christmas Day. The routes for Monday and Tuesday, Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, will be run on Wednesday, December 26th.
The courthouse will be closed next Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. Thank you for your cooperation!!
