County Judge’s Report – May 7, 2008

Last Monday began early at the courthouse. Then I helped move a truck from the shop to Ladelle. I checked several roads in that area and surrounding areas for washouts and drainage problems.
When I returned to the office, the rest of the day was filled with routine office chores, calls and visitors.
Tuesday began as usual – an early trip to the office and then to the shop. Then I helped move a truck from Plantersville to Hwy 133. I also checked several roads throughout the county again for water problems.
The rest of the day was busy in the office.
Wednesday started as usual and then I helped take a truck from Plantersville to Hwy 133. Later I attended an Emergency Management Planning meeting for a full scale training exercise planned for July before returning to the courthouse for the rest of the morning.
That afternoon I went to Tillar to check Old 65 and other roads in the vicinity. The rest of the afternoon was filled with office work.
Thursday began at the office. Then I helped deliver trucks from the shop to Green Hill and from Ladelle to Hwy 133, checking roads in the areas as I traveled.
Returning to the office paperwork and calls filled the rest of the morning.
At noon I attended a special called meeting of the hospital board to meet the head of the firm hired to find a new CEO for the hospital.
The rest of the day was filled with calls, visitors and routine office tasks.
Friday began by moving a truck from the shop to Ladelle for a grader operator. Then I took fuel to a grader on Sullivan Road and checked Sullivan Road and Boston Road while in the area.
Office work, calls and visitors filled the rest of the morning.
That afternoon I worked with the mayor to get permission to burn the damaged trees from last weekend. The law requires permission from ADEQ before burning them.
I also went to the transfer station with the mayor to help him get a GPS location for the transfer station so ADEQ can track the burning.
Office work, calls and visitor finished the day.
Last Monday grader operators checked Monday routes for washouts. (Some folks got up to 5 ¾ inches of rain over last weekend.) Collins Line Road was graded.
Washouts were fixed on 4 Mile Creek Road and South Allis Road.
New signs were installed and brush cut away from them in various spots in the county.
SB2 was hauled to Sanderlin Road and stone backfill hauled to the shop.
Drew County 133, Green Hill-New Hope Road, Ras Pace Road, Green Hill Road and Lacey-New Hope Road were patched.
The front-end loader and bomag received some attention.
Tuesday saw Grace Loop, Grace Road, 4 Mile Creek Road, Skipper Bridge Road, Panther Break Road, Bulloch Road, Silver Mt. Church Road, Ashley 733, Old Hwy 65 (Jerome), Hill Community Road, Collins Lacey Road, Etheridge Road, Lambert Road, Old Warren Road and South Allis Road graded.
B stone was hauled from Dumas to the shop. The old hospital lot on North Main, the library and the shop lawns were mowed.
Bordeaux Road, S. 16th Section Road, N. 16th Section Road, Lucas Lane, Selma Collins Road, Old Military Road and 4 Mile Creek Road were bushhogged.
Some equipment was repaired in the shop.
On Wednesday Bain Lane, Puncheon Creek Road, Loafer’s Lane, Piney Creek Road, Selma Collins Road, Lindsey Lane, Slina Road, O. Z. Simpson Road, Carl O’Neal Road, Horn Loop, Longview Road, Dyson Landing Road, Mammie Martin Road, Prairie Chapel Road, Jones Loop, Ozment Bluff Access Road, Thomas Lane, Mhoon Road, Connie Veasey Road, Van Cruce Road, Barkada Road, Wilmar Loop, Sanderlin Road, Carter Road, Gardner Road, Dave Knight Road and Wilmar Cutoff Road were bladed.
Class 2 was hauled to the Valley stockpile.
The Health Department lot was mowed and limbs were hauled off from the shop.
4 Mile Creek Road, Bayou Road, Skipper Bridge Road and Collins Line Road were patched.
Thursday Green Mount Road, Nolen Lane, Simpson Lane, Ken Lane, Schultz Lane, Florence Road, Mount Tabor Road, Brixie Road, Tara Lane, Garrett Lane, Ethel Lane, Deal Road, Deal Lane, Countryview Road, Seventh Day Adventist Road, Old Troy Road, James Brown Road, Mack Hood Road, Avery Road and Cottonwood Lane were bladed.
Hot mix was hauled to Lacey New Hope Road.
Burton Road and Bowser Road were bushhogged.
State School Road, Burton Road, Bowser Road, Old Troy Road, Rifle Range Road, Old Dermott Road and Old Deane Road were patched.
Friday saw Loggy Bayou Road, Old Hwy 65 (Tillar), Young Lane, County Line Road, Boston Road, Sullivan Road, McMahon Road, Dow Russell Road, Stafford Road, Dickson Road, West Avery Road and Sunset Road bladed.
SB2 was hauled to the shop.
South Cominto Road, Collins Road, Old Hwy 65 (Tillar), Loggy Bayou Road and Ables Creek Road were patched.
Early voting began at the courthouse Monday. You can vote between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. Monday-Friday and 10:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. on Saturdays at the courthouse through May 19th. Please remember to vote the candidate of your choice. Let your voice be heard!
