County Extension Office to offer “Test Your Beef IQ” Cattle Mgmt. Program at UAM

If the answer is “yes” to any of these questions, then plan to attend Beef IQ - an in-depth beef cattle management program being offered by the University of Arkansas, Division of Agriculture, Cooperative Extension Service. This program was developed specifically for cattle producers that want the most from their operation using the resources available.
Beef IQ is held at the U of A campus in Fayetteville on Mondays and the SEREC in Monticello on Tuesdays. Producers should register for the location nearest them. Sessions will address current topics and issues related to breeding and selection, reproduction, herd health, economics, forage production and nutrition. Each session lasts approximately six hours with lunch and refreshments provided.

Registration for the six-session program is $100 per person and $50 for one additional person (spouse, manager, business partner). For less than $20 per session, attendees will get hands-on activities from each session that will be used to evaluate farm resources and develop a farm management plan. Since hands-on activities are involved, class size will be limited to 50 participants.

Register for either the Fayetteville or Monticello program by calling 501-671-2162 or by mailing in a registration form (ask your county agent or program sponsor representative) and check payable to the Agriculture Development Council. Registration deadline is early January 2008.
