Community Rally to Support Our Local Troops, the 39th, Thursday at 5:30 p.m.
Published by Joe Burgess December 31st, 2007 in Military. Many of Monticello’s community and business leaders joined together to plan a community-wide rally to show our support for the members of Monticello’s National Guard 39th Support Battalion, as they prepare to travel to Shelby, Mississippi, before being deployed to Iraq.
The event is set to take place at the First Assembly of God Church on HWY 425 North, this Thursday night.
At 5:30, the community is invited to bring signs and banners showing support for our soldiers, and to bring flags to wave as the National Guard members enter the area around the Assembly of God Church.
Dozens of community members have volunteered to serve a fish fry dinner to the soldiers and their families. Many local businesses have donated the fish and fixings as well.
The event is being jointly sponsored by many of our local churches and business and political leaders.
Make plans now to come on out and line the driveway and highway with a show of support that our local troops will remember and be proud of, while they’re serving our country in Iraq.
