cablevision.jpgAfter 35 years of serving the city of Monticello, Community Communications Company today announced the sale of the company.

According to Donna Gardner, President of CCC, the decision to sell the cable television system was made, in large part, due to the passing of her husband, Paul Gardner.

“This has been a very difficult decision to make, particularly when we’ve served the community for so many years,” she said. “But with Paul’s passing, the new technologies emerging in our industry and my relative lack of cable experience, it seems to be in the best interest of the community and our family to sell the company.”

The new president of CCC is Major Blissitt, who comes to Monticello with more than 35 years of experience in the cable television industry, including serving as general manager for TCA cable systems in McGehee, Dumas and Dermott. Blissitt also owned several cable systems, which he sold in 1999.

“I’m excited to be associated with Community Communications Company,” he said. “This is a great community. This is where I live. And I look forward to serving our customers with outstanding video and high-speed internet products.”

Blissitt noted that the new company plans to focus initially on enhancing customer service, introducing exciting new products and developing local programming. In the near future the company hopes to increase speeds for its high-speed internet service and introduce new digital video packages.

“I’ve been a friend of Paul and Donna Gardner for years,” said Blissitt. “It’s truly an honor and privilege to now take over Community Communications Company where Paul left off. I think he would be pleased.”
