City receives $414,000 ARDOT Grant for Lake Trail

According to Monticello Mayor Jason Akers, the City of Monticello received notification last week from the Arkansas Department of Transportation that the Lakewood Trail, located at Lake Monticello received $414,000 in funding for the next phase of construction to the trail.
The trail was opened to the public earlier this year and provides walking, biking, hiking and nature activities for all ages.
According to Mayor Akers, “We encourage everyone to get outdoors and get healthy and physically active. The lake trail provides that opportunity at no cost. The trail, playgrounds and restrooms are all close together and the location provides a fun environment for families. Both the trail and the outstanding volunteers that have made project this happen are tremendous assets to Monticello and Drew County and we are thankful for and proud of them.”
