They need to move it to mc cloy park so everyone can enjoy it.
yes if thay do one thats where it needs to be so all kids can enjoy it
and it will be by the pool that all the kids are already enjoying
I think the plan for Jordan Park is “GREAT”. Everyone can enjoy it there if they come.
I really don’t see why this comment was made. Monticello has no color or race restrictions on anything and anyone who would like to visit and enjoy the splash park my do so. We as a community need to move forward with everything, if our children can be educated in a classroom together they sure can play together at a splash park.

why move it ? you saying people want enjoy their self at JORDAN PARK. I think its to late to be move so PLEASE COME TO JORDAN PARK @ ENJOY IT?
I do not understand why people like Phillip would say that “They need to move it to McCloy park so everyone can enjoy it”. Jordan Park and the people who live in that area are part of this community and we need to stop this division and come together.
There are people from all backgrounds that are dying overseas for our rights as Americans. Jordan Park needs to be improved and I applaud the Mayor for taking notice. CAN’T WE ALL JUST GET ALONG!
Every child will enjoy it!!! Only in Monticello will it be a problem of where the splash park is being built. Someone posted that it is a depressing part of town. It is not, the lawns on Oakland Str. and kept mowed and there is little trash. I think the Mayor is trying to bring something positive to that side of town and I applaud his efforts. McCloy Par is not the cleanest area! Ok someone also said move it McCloy because there is a pool already there. What is the point of putting the splsh pad there also. That is the reason it needs to be at Jordan Park because there is no pool. So I say suck it up, it going to be at Jordan Park, live with it!!!!
I to don’t understand the reason behind those that are saying that it needs to be moved. My only question is……is this something the city really needs to be spending money on. Heck, if it needs to be moved how about moving it out by the sports complex?
Why? Why move it to the sports complex?
Didn’t there use to be a pool at jordan park?
There was a very nice pool at Jordan Park. Lets face it, the splash pad is going in regardless of all the pros and cons and it can be debated until the day it opens for business. Our city council in there wisdom will push it through no matter what. It will prolly be good fun for the kids while it last. I guess all the people with out jobs can “suck it up” when they are hungry and homeless, but hey, they will have a place to cool off in the summer time if they can afford to get in.
Ok it doesn’t matter what was at Jordan Park! The thing of it is that the money has been allocated for some years now to get this done, and when you recieve grant money from the federal government you have to use it according to the plans that were submitted to get it.
It is time for all of us african americans & caucasins to move forward and stop letting the negativety overtake us. If we all could just give things a chance everything will work out for the best. Our children play sports, take dance lessons and swim together, so what is really the problem.
If more people would put there trust in God and let him work out all the little petty stuff it woild be much better. I’m quite sure that there are more major issues that need to be dwelled on besides a splash park.
Jo Ann
Who said anything about african americans and caucasions? I was wondering what happened to the old pool. I havn’t heard anyone say?
It does matter to some what used to be at Jordan Park. Some of us remember that there used to be a very nice pool there and also remember what happened to it.
Also it is not grant money but money from out of the City’s Budget that is paying for it: The city already has a little over $375,000 allocated in the budget; therefore, it would need approximately $75,000 more to install the water feature. Rogers said he did not want to spend more than the specified $450,000 quoted by ETC Engineering and Architects, Inc. Taken from the article “City Council moves forward with Jordan Park Splash Pad” dated June 5th 2009.
You are right, there are more major issues that need to be dwelled on, like using the almost half a million dollars that will be spent on a “splash pad” when it could be used on trying to help the infra structure and economy of Monticello.
