9 Responses to “City Council Approves Funds to Repair Lake Monticello Road by 7-1 Vote”

  1. BlackWaterRydas says:

    Whooo Hoooooo!!!

  2. Brenda says:

Ok, that is great, but what about the bridge on Conley street that has been out of use for a year?

  3. drew co. citizen says:

sounds like someone is just taken up a seat and dont understand the time and money it takes when you do a job like this.

  4. city girl says:

I agree with you, Drew Co Citizen, that lady is just taking up a seat. I frequently listen to the video of the city council meetings, and she never agrees with anything that is proposed by the mayor to improve our city. She always wants to wait and think about everything. Talk about either not being able to understand the topics that are discussed or either she just doesn’t want to agree on anything. This lady is supposed to be speaking for the people she represents in her ward, not just for herself. I agree with the rest of the members and the mayor on repairing the lake road. That road is horrible and has been for several years. It is embarassing to me, as a citizen of Monticello, that we have allowed that road to get in that shape. Especially when it leads to such a beautiful lake that is visited and enjoyed by so many people. So, to sum it up, good job mayor and other members of the council for approving this vote, and shame on you Ms. Hartness.

  5. someguy says:

I think it is time for a whole new city council. They only want to do what they want to do no matter what we, the tax payers think. They have all had there time there. Let someone else do it. It’s a shame only one person run for a council seat this term. I still can not see how the fence at the sports complex costs $40k bucks. I also agree with Brenda & Citygirl…

  6. drew co. citizen says:

as far as the fence goes at the complex i hope thats what it will cost when the rest of the fence is done its still a job in progress. and yes that bridge needs to be fixed but im sure its FEMA thats holding up that progress.

  7. Joe Mailman says:

I agree with someguy! Vote em out of their seat. Let’s put fresh ideas into the council.

The fence: Have you seen it? What was the point of that type of fence? They could have installed a chain link fence to keep the soccer balls in the park for much cheaper. But it wouldn’t be “pretty.” I have to say, the complex is nice to have and looks great. The kids seem to really enjoy it. But the kids wouldn’t care if there were a chain link fence up either.

  8. Wondering says:

WONDERFUL!! that road is horrible and very dangerous to those pulling a boat!!! Its about time the road has been awful for years!!

  9. doc says:

This year all of our money will go to the lake road. When this tax was voted in it was to pave the streets of Monticello that had been neglected for years. Very few streets were paved last year and now it is going somewhere else this year. I think the word “infrastructure” translates into we’ll pave a couple of roads and use the rest for our pet projects. Did any of the council members asks their constituents for their opinion or did they just decide they wanted their own name on it? We need a new council that represents the people.
