City Council Approves Bowfishing, Airport Improvements, Other Items
August 27th, 2012 by Joe BurgessThe Monticello City Council met recently, and approved resolutions for the Monticello Municipal Airport, including:
A resolution for a lease contract with Price Companies for hangar space, and a resolution to accept an Arkansas State Aeronautics grant for it’s construction, and a resolution for a FAA grant in the amount of $476,000. Another $60,900 from state matched federal grant money, this will totals $537,000,for an apron expansion project.
The Council approved an ordinance to purchase a 2007 John Deere 317 Diesel “bobcat” with front loader.The Skidder will be replacing a 1985 backhoe,which engine blew up.
The City Council voted and approved an ordinance to allow bowfishing at Lake Monticello. Bowfishing will be allowed on Lake Monticello subject to the rules,regulations and restrictions of the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission.
The Council gave Mayor approval to advertise for bids to enable the city to become energy efficient through lighting fixtures within city buildings. The Mayor doesn’t won’t to change any historical fixtures.
