Citizens Bank Breaks Ground On New Financial Center in Monticello

February 5th, 2020 by

E5B28F43-68B6-4C72-A56E-9325952E8DB8Citizens Bank recently broke ground on the construction of a modern branch banking facility to be located at 236 U.S. Highway 425 North in Monticello.

“We expect a target completion date of September of this year,” said Chris Lampkin, Southeast Market President for Citizens Bank. “At that time, we will also consolidate the operation of our two local branches in Monticello into a new comprehensive banking center to better serve the businesses and families of this area.”

Monticello Mayor Paige Chase led a group of local dignitaries and the Citizens Bank Board of Directors in participating in the groundbreaking ceremony. Mayor Chase expressed appreciation for Citizens Bank’s continuing investments in the community.

“Where banks are being built, communities are showing improvement,” added Drew County Judge Robert Akin. “Citizens Bank is one of the stars of Drew County and Southeast Arkansas. This project brings excitement to our community because this will be where people will come to get the funding to build their buildings, and start new enterprises. We appreciate Citizens Bank for participating in that growth.”

“We are thankful for Citizens Bank being a part of our community, and for recognizing and promoting growth in Monticello,” said Nita McDaniel, Director of the Monticello Economic Development Commission. “Citizens Bank is part of everything that goes on in the Monticello Economic Development Commission. Chris Lampkin represents Citizens Bank on our Board, and he is always willing to help in any way he can. That is what enables Monticello to be what it is today and what we hope to do in the future.”

The new banking facility, designed by CADM Architecture of El Dorado and Magnolia, will encompass 6,000 square feet of space for Citizens Bank to provide a full service banking relationship. It will also include a community room that will be available to the public and organizations to hold meetings and celebrations.

“This new state-of-the-art structure represents a major investment in Monticello and Drew County,” said Phil Baldwin, Chief Executive Officer of Citizens Bank, which is based in Batesville. “It also demonstrates Citizens Bank’s confidence in the economic growth of this region of the state now and into the future.”

“Under the leadership of Chris Lampkin, Citizens Bank is proud to have a dedicated and community minded team to usher in this new time for our bank,” said Adam Mitchell, Citizens Bank President. “We are looking forward to much continued success for the people and businesses in Southeast Arkansas.”

Citizens Bank has entered its fifth year of operation in the Monticello and Drew County market, having purchased the operations of the former Parkway Bank, including two locations in Monticello, one each in Crossett and Portland, and another in Rogers.

About Citizens Bank
Citizens Bank was founded in 1953 by business and civic leaders to serve the financial needs of middle-income families and small businesses. Today, Citizens Bank is a $920 million financial services organization serving the State of Arkansas. In 2018, Citizens Bank was named by the American Bankers Association as the best bank in the United States for Community and Economic Development.
