Circuit Judge Candidate Reported for Electioneering in Voting Precinct

May 16th, 2018 by

Quincy RossE218DDEF-3A23-4789-A9F0-1B6D027BF67ECircuit Judge candidate Quincy Ross has been reported to the Drew County election commission for improper conduct (electioneering) in the Drew County Courthouse clubroom early voting precinct.

On May 10, at approximately 1:05 PM, Ross was voting in the clubroom, at the same time that a visually impaired voter was being assisted by two poll workers.

As the poll workers were telling the voter “the candidates for circuit judge are James Hamilton and Quincy Ross…”, Ross loudly spoke up saying, “I’m Quincy Ross. Vote for me,” and was quickly stopped by the poll workers before he could make any other comments.

Anything that is said or done to coerce someone to vote for a particular candidate is illegal, if it occurs within 100 feet of the entry to the voting precinct, as described in Arkansas law.

The poll workers were required to sign a statement, and turn it over to the County Clerk, who was mandated to notify the election Commissioners of the event.
